North Olympia Animal Hospital formerly known as Animal Care Veterinary Clinic has been serving the medical and surgical needs of the community for the past 35 years. Dr. Galen Wedin who started the practice had developed a reputation for affordable spay, neuter and vaccination services with compassion and dedication for all the pets in the capitol region.
Dr. Srinivasan Ramanathan (AKA Dr. Ram) a native of India who acquired the practice recently is a summa cum laude and gold medal graduate from the first veterinary university of that country. Soon after his graduation he migrated to United States and completed his clinical internships in large clinical medical centres in the east coast, qualified and obtained his veterinary licenses to practice in various states. He started out with his own small animal hospital in Pennsylvania and soon grew with ownership of 3 small animal hospitals in the Philadelphia region. He is an accredited veterinarian by the USDA for participation in the animal disease eradication programs in the nation. He is a clinician with 40 years of small animal practice experience and a servant leader who works as a part of the team and wins the appreciation of the fellow team members for his dedication and passion for clinical duties and compassionate service to both pets and their parents. His clinical areas of interests and expertise include Public Health, Surgery, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and exotic pets.
He served the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as a Public Health Veterinary Medical Officer in various locations in Pennsylvania and Western Washington assuring food safety, food security and protection of public health. He is also active in the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association serving their Leadership Development Committee to prepare future leaders of his chosen profession.
He is founder and instrumental in the establishment of the first veterinary college in private sector in his birth country India. He served this college in various capacities as Professor of Veterinary Public Health, Director of Clinics as well as the Dean. This successful institute graduated more than 500 veterinary graduates so far and some of his students are practicing in Canada, USA, Britain, Australia and New Zealand. He continues his valuable service to this college as a visiting professor to teach and guide the students as well as sharing his American experiences.
Dr. Ram loves the outdoors and enjoys the lakes, mountains and the ocean shores of western Washington. He spends his leisure time with his family that includes a son and a brother who are also clinical veterinarians in private practice and a daughter and daughter in law both practicing physicians.
